Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced two transformative initiatives to empower students and improve healthcare in the province. These include a Laptop Distribution Program and free Dialysis Services for Kidney Patients.
Laptop Distribution Program for Students
The CM Laptop and Merit Scholarship Program aims to provide advanced Core i7, 13th-generation laptops to high-achieving and deserving students across Punjab. The initiative is targeted to be completed within 90 days.
Eligibility Criteria for Laptop Scheme
Students eligible for the program include:
- Top Performers in Matric and F.Sc Exams: High achievers in these exams will be rewarded with laptops.
- University and College Students: A total of 20,000 university students and 14,000 college students will be included.
- Field-Specific Students: Students from disciplines like Computer Science, Medicine, Engineering, and Agriculture will benefit.
- Regional Focus: Around 32% of the recipients will belong to Southern Punjab.
- Minority Students: Special allocation for 2,000 students from minority communities.
- First Phase: 5,000 laptops will be distributed within the first 30 days.
- Completion Goal: By February 20, 2024, a total of 35,000 laptops will be distributed.
Merit Scholarships for Female Students
A special scholarship program has been launched to support female students’ education, covering full tuition fees for four to five years.
